Leg Positioning: Proper resident positioning starts with the legs and works upwards. If the legs aren't positioned properly or don't reach the footrests, sliding may occur. Heel Off-Loading:The best way to prevent heel pressure sores is to keep pressure off the skin or to off-load the heel. This can be accomplished by placing the foot in an off-loading boot or raising the heel by supporting the leg with a leg off-loading platform. Off-loading products are available in this section.

Pelvic/Waist Control: Being comfortable and properly positioned in the wheelchair is critical for preventing uncontrolled sliding and normalizing posture. Poor posture often results in developing bone and joint deformities, pressure ulcers, and frequently places limits to activities such as eating, writing, and reading.
